REASON NOT TO VOTE FOR REPUBLICANS: THEY'RE DUMB ENOUGH TO BUY THIS BOOK IN MASS QUANTITIES

Members of the Party of Ideas are embracing a new work of scholarship:
‘Reasons to Vote for Democrats’ jumps to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list. But its pages are blank.

As of early Friday morning, a new political book remained perched at the top of Amazon’s bestseller list: “Reasons to Vote for Democrats: A Comprehensive Guide,” by Daily Wire managing editor Michael J. Knowles....

A peek inside finds a quote from Thucydides, and a table of contents with such lofty chapters as “Foreign Policy,” “Civil Rights” and “Homeland Security.”

What follows next are roughly 260 blank pages, save for the book’s title printed atop each. The list price is $9.99....

Although it might be a novelty item, the book seems to be flying off the shelves.
Yes, it is -- it's #1 on the Amazon bestseller list, far ahead of new books by Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, and even Bill O'Reilly.

This is not an original idea. If you've scoured bookstore humor shelves over the years, you might have stumbled across other books with nothing but blank pages --for instance, Everything Men Know About Women and "Brace Yourself, Bridget!": The Official Irish Sex Manual. But the joke with these books is that they can be given as gag gifts to people who probably have no idea that they exist, so the contents, or lack thereof, come as a surprise. All-blank books aren't supposed to become bestsellers. What's the point if the "author" is on TV (Fox, naturally) giving away the book's one joke?

Do you give this book as a gift to a Democrat, just so you can offend the recipient the way you probably do when the two of you get together and you prattle on about how Michelle Obama is really a man and Valerie Jarrett runs a secret Deep State government in exile? Do you give it to a fellow Republican, who's probably already heard of it and knows the joke? Do you buy it for yourself, even though you already know the joke?

Really? That a good use for ten bucks (or eight with the Amazon discount)?

There's a Democratic version of this -- Reasons to Vote for Republicans -- but it's at #40,336 at Amazon right now. Why so low on the bestseller list? Because most Democrats wouldn't waste their money on it.

Is there a more self-satisfied, self-congratulatory movement anywhere in America than conservatism?
